CONE-BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (Planmeca ProMax 3D Classic CBCT unit)
Doctors go for Cone-beam Computed tomography (CBCT) when normal dental X-rays cannot detect the problems correctly. CBCT helps in getting accurate 3-dimensional radiographic imaging of bones, teeth, jaw, throat as well as soft tissues. Using CBCT, about 150-300 images can be taken from different angles and developed into a single 3D image.
OPG: orthopantomogram or OPG is a wide view X-Ray used for taking images of the lower face. The advantage of an OPG is that it shows all the teeth and supporting bone structures of upper and lower jaws in one single film. It can reveal many issues affecting jawbones and the joint which connects the mandible to the head. The quick and efficient OPG has a very low radiation.
